Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Unit, your responsibilities will include triaging, assessing, and treating patients of all ages who require emergency care. Our team is dedicated to providing timely and compassionate care for patients facing emergency and life-threatening situations. Your role will encompass:

  • Documenting essential nursing notes to reflect changes in patient condition, transfers, and discharges.
  • Administering medications according to physician directives.
  • Responding to and managing incoming calls, including phone triage as necessary.
  • Understanding and navigating all care zones, including triage, rapid treatment areas, pediatric ER, trauma, and behavioral health.
  • Coordinating and triaging incoming ambulance traffic.
  • Collaborating with primary ED attending physicians.
  • Learning and applying the Emergency Severity Index 5-level triage algorithm.
  • Responding to critical needs and serving as a resource nurse for trauma cases.
  • Demonstrating the ability to manage critical situations and make informed care decisions.
  • Educating patients and their families about medications, procedures, and treatments, providing support throughout their hospital stay.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or a valid Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred, to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification preferred, to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Previous experience in emergency, pre-hospital, or critical care nursing is preferred.
