About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our Workforce Development Bureau and drive our economic development strategy. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that promote economic growth, job creation, and workforce development in the City of Long Beach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive economic growth and job creation in the City of Long Beach
  • Oversee the development and implementation of workforce development programs and initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations
  • Manage a team of staff and provide guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of programs and initiatives
  • Develop and manage budgets and ensure effective use of resources
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in leading economic development projects, community engagement initiatives, or workforce development programs
  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • Strong understanding of economic development principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
