Job Summary

Mobius is seeking a highly skilled Warfare Systems Engineer to join our team in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). As a Warfare Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert in the design and development of aircraft carrier systems, providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM).

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary Navigational Systems expert for CVN 68 and CVN 78 Class aircraft carriers.
  • Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM).
  • Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience.
  • Provide responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), Liaison Action Request (LAR), Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Availability Work Package (AWP) Change Request.
  • Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
  • Review Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.
  • Develop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.
  • Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes.
Requirements
  • 5 years with experience with, or E-7 or above with experience with US Navy Warfare systems.
  • Experience with the CVN 68 or CVN 78 Class Warfare Systems.
  • Experience with US Navy vessels (preferably nuclear-powered ships).
  • Good technical writing and communication skills.
  • Engineer with degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience working with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard electrical systems.
  • Experience working with technical authority (e.g. NAVSEA 05 and 08).
  • Experience working with program managers (e.g. PEO Carriers, PMS 312, PMS 378, etc.) in an engineering role.
  • Experience with shipboard networks and systems.
  • Experience with US Navy, USCG or MSC vessels.
  • Preferably experience with aircraft carriers.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Education: Engineer with a four-year degree.
  • Clearance: An active SECRET Security Clearance is required.
