Job Description:

This position is part of the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate at Naval Sea Systems Command.

The incumbent will serve as an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer, supporting the Nimitz and Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers and Warfare System Engineering Manager.

Occasional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary expert in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects for systems installed on aircraft carriers.
  • Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers and System Engineering Manager.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz and/or Ford Class operational experience.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via various channels.
  • Participate in technical approval letters for Ship Alteration and Technical Assessment Team reviews for Ship Change Documents.
  • Review Technical Feedback Reports for Planned Maintenance System changes requiring Designated Technical Representative review.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, and other activities to resolve technical matters.
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc., and provide technical recommendations.
  • Develop formal presentations to brief senior officials.
  • Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes.
Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience working with US Navy vessels, preferably nuclear-powered ships.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center, Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command, Regional Maintenance Center, and/or Type Commander supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard systems.
  • Experience working with a US Navy Technical Authority.
  • Experience working with program managers in a technical role.
  • Experience with shipboard networks and systems.
  • Experience with aircraft carriers.
Degree Requirements:
  • 4-yr Engineering degree (Electrical preferred) from an accredited university.

Must be a U.S. citizen. SECRET security clearance must be fully adjudicated and considered "final".
