Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team at Community Medical Centers Inc. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dental team in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist dentists in all aspects of dentistry, including four-handed dentistry, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform mouth-mirror inspections of the oral cavity, charting obvious lesions, existing restorations, and missing teeth, under general supervision.
  • Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models, and place and remove rubber dams as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized operatory and equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Set up tables and trays with necessary items and instruments, and sterilize instruments as needed.
  • Assist in the presentation of post-operative instructions and translate for the dentist as required.
  • May be required to work week nights and weekends, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of Dental Assistant experience or completion of a Dental Assistant Program
  • Certified by the State of California to take Dental X-Rays
  • Current certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Ability to relate to low-income community residents
  • Valid California Driver's license, proof of insurance, and personal transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of dental assistant principles and practices
  • Knowledge of procedures for taking dental x-rays
  • Knowledge of how to sterilize instruments
  • Knowledge of preventive oral health concepts
  • Skill in assisting dentist in four-handed dentistry
  • Knowledge of basic office management techniques
  • Knowledge of dental equipment and instruments to assist in administering care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in maintaining records and recording examination and x-ray results
  • Skill in developing and maintaining clinic quality assurance
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, dental staff, and the public
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly
Working Conditions

Work performed in a reception area, involving frequent contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times, and interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
