We are currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our dedicated team at North Park Post Acute.

Position Overview: The Rehabilitation Assistant operates under the guidance of the Senior Staff Occupational Therapist. This role involves executing both direct and indirect patient care responsibilities as directed by licensed professionals within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates patient transport and transfers.
  • Performs assigned non-clinical and clinical duties under the continuous supervision of a registered therapist.
  • Supports registered therapists in routine rehabilitation treatments for both inpatient and outpatient cases.
  • Does not interpret medical orders, assess patients, or create treatment plans.
  • Completes patient-related tasks as assigned by the supervising therapist.
  • Assists in lifting patients to and from various equipment, including mats, treatment tables, wheelchairs, and other necessary apparatus.
  • Helps patients with transfer activities across different surfaces.
  • Assists patients in putting on and taking off all relevant devices specific to the facility.
  • Positions patients in parallel bars and prepares them for standing with the appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices.
  • Transports patients to and from therapy sessions as required.
  • Assists therapists with additional patient-related treatment activities and equipment management.
  • Engages in patient-related activities, including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy sessions, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: One or more years of experience in a hospital setting as a rehabilitation aide.
  • College students or graduates with experience in working with individuals, or those enrolled in a professional education program leading to a PT, PTA, OT, OTA, SLP, or other health professional qualifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal abilities; must demonstrate maturity and responsibility.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification (AHA) is required and must be maintained.
