Job Overview

Position Objective:

The Avionics Systems Technician II is responsible for delivering technical expertise in the evaluation of aircraft systems, diagnosing and rectifying system issues to minimize disruptions to the operational schedule. This role showcases technical proficiency by implementing procedural improvements aimed at reducing costs while adhering to safety and quality standards. The technician may also serve as a substitute for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician, ensuring that the organization's safety and quality objectives are consistently met while following daily operational plans to fulfill scheduling obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Exhibit technical skills and knowledge in the operational testing and troubleshooting of avionics and aircraft systems.

2. Execute the installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft in accordance with engineering specifications, schematics, and maintenance manuals to guarantee a flawless system.

3. Ensure the quality and efficiency of all installations by troubleshooting processes and concepts to deliver timely and effective repairs of malfunctioning systems.

4. Demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring that installations meet compliance standards. Utilize effective repair techniques, including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.

5. Implement and adhere to engineering changes and modifications as necessary.

6. Set up and operate essential testing equipment. Conduct functional and operational assessments to evaluate performance and reliability.

7. Maintain thorough documentation of all work performed on the aircraft, ensuring readiness for inspection.

8. Test and maintain testing equipment, electronic systems, and components.

9. Adhere to the company's FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations.

10. Adapt to unexpected changes in the operational schedule.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an avionics or electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics coupled with two (2) years of relevant experience. An A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license is preferred. FCC and NCATT certifications are also preferred.

Other Qualifications:

1. Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of additional aircraft systems or disciplines beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.

2. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.

3. Demonstrates strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

4. Must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
