Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled High-Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Administrator to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). As an HPC Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for deploying, operating, and supporting leading-edge technology for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputer System (WCOSS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply current HPC systems administrative skills and desire to learn and deploy new technologies.
  • Develop and deploy monitoring capabilities.
  • Develop and implement tools for cluster administration.
  • Provide technical support with a team of HPC System & Storage Administrators to resolve operational issues.
  • Provide off-hour on-call support on a rotating basis.
  • Manage, plan, and report for on-site vendor/subcontractor activities.
  • Work on-site at a data center.
  • Manage on-site office and access for vendors and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to planning for software and hardware upgrades along with future installations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 10+ years of experience with HPC systems operations.
  • Experience working in a 24X7 operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience deploying and managing large-scale HPC systems using OS provisioning tools.
  • Demonstrated experience using configuration management tools.
  • Linux system administration experience.
  • Batch management/scheduling experience.
  • Parallel filesystem configuration and monitoring experience.
  • Network interconnect configuration and monitoring experience.
  • Programming or scripting in at least two languages.
  • Strong writing skills for technical documents.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge/experience with managing subcontractors or vendors under Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Knowledge of computer system power and cooling.
  • Experience managing, maintaining, and repairing HPC and server hardware.
