About the Association of Academic Museums & Galleries

The Association of Academic Museums & Galleries (AAMG) is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the role of academic museums and galleries in education, research, and community engagement. Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer and President will be a visionary leader responsible for guiding the strategic direction of AAMG. This individual will manage the organization's operations, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

The next CEO will be a dynamic and engaging leader tasked with expanding AAMG's reach, enhancing its visibility, and strengthening its network of support. They will serve as a passionate advocate for the importance of academic museums and galleries, engaging with stakeholders, community leaders, and potential donors.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:
Set the strategic vision for AAMG in collaboration with the Board of Directors and stakeholders. Lead initiatives that promote the value of academic museums and galleries in higher education and community settings.

Fundraising and Development:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support for AAMG's programs and initiatives. Cultivate relationships with individual, corporate, and institutional donors to expand the organization's funding base.

Community Engagement:
Enhance AAMG's presence in the academic and cultural sectors through effective outreach and partnership development. Collaborate with member institutions to share best practices and foster a sense of community among academic museums and galleries.

Organizational Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of AAMG, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among staff and board members. Manage the organization's budget and financial resources to support its strategic goals.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit leadership, with a passion for the mission of academic museums and galleries. Key qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, or higher education.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and securing major gifts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic planning and organizational development.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of organizational practice.
