Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager in Manufacturing to lead a team of quality assurance experts at our facility in Indiana. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality Assurance, you will enhance and refine the plant's quality management framework while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and compliance. Your leadership will guide the team in executing their daily quality assurance responsibilities, and you will spearhead the formulation and execution of quality objectives for the facility. You will ensure that all products manufactured meet safety and quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a Quality Culture: Advocate for the belief that quality is a collective responsibility. You will be accountable for the overall success of quality assurance standards and practices, guiding the team to take ownership of their actions. You will ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Site HACCP, GFIS, and company policies as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual and Laboratory Manual.
  • Guarantee Product Safety: Oversee daily quality assurance operations within the plant. Utilize logical reasoning to address issues and implement solutions to prevent production delays. Ensure adherence to stringent sanitation protocols and conduct thorough sanitation testing.
  • Conduct Analysis and Reporting: Address customer complaints with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA). Manage audits and inspections from local, state, customer, third-party, and federal entities. Communicate quality metrics and inspection outcomes to relevant management and leadership personnel.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Provide training to management and staff on all quality assurance and food safety protocols, including the Site HACCP program and Quality Management System (QMS). Maintain comprehensive documentation of all required quality tests and activities.
  • Laboratory Oversight: Ensure the plant laboratory operates efficiently, with all necessary supplies and equipment available. Verify that appropriate tests—chemical, bacteriological, sensory, and utilization—are conducted on raw materials and finished products.
  • Exceed Customer Expectations: Ensure compliance with all contract packaging and customer specifications. Guarantee timely release of all finished goods for shipment and materials for production.
  • Lead Change Management: Implement strategies that promote swift adoption of improvements and best practices to enhance quality and efficiency. Collaborate closely with the plant manager, engineers, production manager, HR business partner, controller, and planner to achieve site objectives related to cost, quality, environmental safety, and product delivery.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, along with HACCP training and GFSI scheme training.
  • Professional Experience: Extensive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with a proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives and leading change management efforts.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) under GFSI and HACCP standards, along with experience in thermal processing techniques and sanitation systems.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects from inception to completion, demonstrating decisiveness, meticulousness, and proactivity in addressing issues.
  • Leadership Abilities: Experience in managing and developing teams, with a focus on achieving objectives efficiently and effectively.
