Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Quality Culture
    • Develop and implement quality objectives for the plant, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead a team of quality assurance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure effective quality management.
    • Implement and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) that meets GFSI and HACCP standards.
  • Ensure Product Safety
    • Oversee daily quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
    • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Develop and maintain documentation of quality tests and activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze and Report
    • Respond to customer complaints, providing root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
    • Manage local, state, customer, third-party, and federal audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Communicate quality metrics and inspection results to management and other stakeholders.
  • Share Knowledge
    • Train management and employees on quality assurance and food safety standards, including the Site HACCP program and QMS.

  • Oversee Laboratory Operations
    • Ensure the plant laboratory is equipped with necessary supplies and equipment.
    • Verify that required tests are completed on raw materials and pasteurized products.
  • Meet Customer Expectations
    • Ensure adherence to contract packaging and customer requirements.
    • Ensure on-time release of finished goods for shipment and materials for production.
  • Lead Change Management
    • Implement change management strategies and plans to drive adoption of improvements and best practices.
    • Work closely with plant management, engineers, production manager, HRBP, controller, and planner to achieve site objectives.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Completed HACCP training and GFSI scheme training.
  • Experience
    • Extensive quality assurance experience in food and beverage manufacturing.
    • Direct experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and leading change management.
    • Implemented CAPA and led audits with customers on-site.
  • Technical Knowledge
    • Extensive experience overseeing and optimizing a Quality Management System (QMS) under GFSI and HACCP standards.
    • Experience in thermal processing techniques, including hot fill, sterilization, or aseptic processing.
    • Deep knowledge of sanitation systems, techniques, and procedures and pasteurization/post-pasteurization processes.
    • Worked with FDA requirements for acidified and acid foods.
  • Project Management Expertise
    • Driven and able to take charge of a project from start to finish.
    • Decisive, meticulous, and proactive in responding to issues and requests for changes.
    • Excellent organizational skills in a demanding, changing environment.
  • Leadership Skills
