Unit Overview

Embark on a fulfilling career with our Hematology-Oncology units, where your passion for patient care aligns with our mission to combat cancer. Our team employs evidence-based treatment plans and clinical guidelines to manage symptoms effectively. We also engage in clinical research to enhance care and treatment options for our oncology patients.
  • Bed Capacity: 30
  • Patient Demographics: Acute and Chronic Leukemias, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Aplastic Anemia
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
Role Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in Hematology, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients. Your role will involve:
  • Effectively communicating with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure safe and dependable care.
  • Demonstrating strong assessment skills and understanding the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes.
  • Accurately documenting the nursing process in appropriate formats and independently planning and implementing patient care.
  • Incorporating patient and family input into care planning while managing time efficiently and utilizing evidence-based research to inform practice.
  • Achieving required points and contact hours as outlined in the clinical lattice point system.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid, active nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with at least 12 months of recent nursing experience or completion of a re-entry nursing program.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS may be necessary in specific departments.
  • Exceptions apply for individuals currently employed as LPNs within the Emory Healthcare system who are transitioning to RN roles.
