Denver, Colorado, United States upLIGHT Full time
Position Overview

Are you passionate about fostering a sustainable future? At Uplight, we are dedicated to inspiring energy consumers and providers to enhance the clean energy landscape.

Collaborating with over 90 leading electric and gas utilities globally, Uplight offers a comprehensive customer energy experience.

We strive to deliver tailored experiences that customers now expect—boosting satisfaction, increasing revenue, minimizing service costs, and aiding in carbon reduction objectives.

As a certified B Corp, we prioritize our values, making decisions that benefit not only our shareholders but also our customers, the environment, our employees, and the community.

We are seeking a curious, skilled, and enthusiastic Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team, helping us reach our ambitious goals for both our business and the planet.

In this role, you will serve as a business partner to various departments, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning, and monthly financial performance reporting against budget/forecast.

You will also collaborate closely with other members of the FP&A team and Accounting to ensure an accurate and timely financial close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operating expense forecast, budget, and monthly financial review process for various departments.
  • Enhance proficiency in NetSuite and Planful financial systems.
  • Conduct analysis and reporting on headcount and operating expense line items.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and business partners.
  • Manage, track, and report all headcount-related activities.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to deliver actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Review preliminary month-end results and suggest journal entries to ensure the accuracy of financial outcomes.
  • Maintain reporting templates on a monthly basis.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in FP&A.
  • Working knowledge of basic Accounting principles (understanding P&Ls, accruals, reclasses, etc.) and GAAP.
  • Understanding of the three financial statements and their interrelations.
  • Strong foundational Excel skills with a desire to enhance your expertise.
  • A willingness to learn about the business beyond just number crunching.
  • An analytical mindset focused on identifying win-win solutions that balance opportunities and risks, creating related forecasts accordingly.
  • A critical and curious approach to tasks and processes, always asking, "How can I improve this?"
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Netsuite and Planful (or other FP&A tools) is a significant advantage.

At Uplight, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the ideal candidate for this or other positions.
