Position Overview

The primary role of the Dietitian is to evaluate the dietary requirements of patients. This professional will contribute to the assessment of patients as necessary. The Dietitian is responsible for creating and executing personalized nutritional care plans, documenting essential information related to patient nutrition in their medical records, and communicating effectively with other healthcare providers. The position emphasizes delivering evidence-based nutrition care, developing therapeutic meal plans, and providing nutritional guidance to patients and their families. The Dietitian will also engage in departmental initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and operational processes. Staying informed about the latest trends, research, and standards in nutrition is essential. Supervision will be provided by a qualified professional who will review the Dietitian's work for compliance with established standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the nutritional status of patients and initiate appropriate care in line with established protocols.
  • Review dietary orders for all patients.
  • Create and implement nutrition care plans based on patient assessments.
  • Monitor patient responses, update care plans, and document findings in patient records.
  • Provide education or counseling to patients regarding their nutritional needs and dietary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service department to ensure the provision of nutritionally balanced menus and meal options.
  • Act as a resource for healthcare professionals and the community on nutrition-related practices.
  • Maintain awareness of current nutrition trends and practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities and committees.
  • Calculate dietary modifications for specific populations and provide counseling as needed.
  • Foster effective working relationships with all healthcare disciplines involved in patient care.
  • Engage collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to changing workloads to meet organizational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ensure productivity and workflow management.
  • Develop educational materials and conduct nutrition classes for patients and staff.
  • Meet clinical productivity benchmarks.
  • Oversee the efficiency and productivity of specific program units.
  • Coordinate significant projects within the clinical nutrition program.

Qualifications

Typically requires 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in a related field is mandatory.

Credentials
  • Registered Dietitian and Florida Licensure are required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any additional relevant life support certification for Healthcare Providers are required upon hire.
