Position Overview
The primary function of the Dietitian is to evaluate the dietary requirements of patients. This role involves developing and executing tailored nutritional care plans, documenting essential information in patient records, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. The Dietitian is committed to delivering evidence-based nutritional support and creating therapeutic meal plans. Additionally, this position includes providing nutritional guidance to patients and their families, participating in departmental initiatives, and staying informed about the latest developments in nutrition and dietary practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the nutritional health of patients and initiate suitable dietary interventions in line with established protocols.
- Review and interpret medical orders related to patient diets.
- Formulate and implement nutrition care strategies based on patient assessments.
- Monitor patient progress, revise care plans, and document findings in medical records.
- Educate patients on their nutritional needs, dietary adjustments, and potential food-drug interactions.
- Collaborate with the Food Service department to ensure the provision of nutritionally balanced menus and meal options.
- Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and the community regarding nutritional best practices.
- Maintain awareness of current trends and advancements in the field of nutrition.
- Uphold professional standards through participation in training sessions and committees.
- Calculate specialized diets for various patient demographics, including those with diabetes and other dietary restrictions.
- Foster effective working relationships with interdisciplinary teams involved in patient care.
- Engage collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction and care outcomes.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing workloads to meet organizational objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ensure personal productivity and workflow efficiency.

Typically requires 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is mandatory.
Credentials
- Registered Dietitian and Florida Licensure are essential.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any additional relevant life support training for Healthcare Providers are required upon hire.
