Job Overview:

The BEZOS Center for Sustainable Protein is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee and coordinate a variety of intricate financial, research administration, and compliance activities. This pivotal role will serve as the primary contact for all financial dealings and will be responsible for a range of business-related functions including accounting, budgeting, auditing, reporting, and grants management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct the financial and administrative operations of the Center, ensuring consistent monitoring of financial resources.
  • Oversee budgeting, subcontracting, accounting, and reporting processes to ensure compliance with institutional and research sponsor regulations.
  • Handle all aspects of pre- and post-award management, including budget support for Principal Investigators and project close-outs.
  • Interpret and evaluate university policies to ensure alignment with federal regulations and safeguard the university's participation in federal programs.
  • Monitor financial budgets and expenditures for all sub-awards, collaborating with financial contacts at partner institutions.
  • Prepare financial reports, journal vouchers, and conduct audits of revenue, expenses, and payroll.
  • Act as a liaison to various university offices, including Contracts and Grants and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Contribute to the Annual Report for the Center, compiling and presenting all financial data.
  • Provide financial summaries and forecasts to Center leadership, interpreting data and making recommendations for effective financial management.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with human resources functions and Center events.
  • Facilitate travel arrangements for leadership and manage procurement of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 12 credit hours in accounting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, or similar software.
  • Prior experience in financial management roles is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with processing purchase orders and travel reimbursements.
  • Familiarity with funding sources and spending guidelines.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to grants and contracts.
