Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Conductor/Engineer to join our team at Watco Transloading. As a Conductor/Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains and railcars.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars in a safe and efficient manner
- Inspect locomotives before and after runs to verify fuel, sand, water, and FRA requirements
- Read and interpret wayside signals, track warrants, and bulletins to operate locomotives
- Communicate with crew members and train dispatchers via radio to issue and receive information and instructions
- Assist workers in throwing switches and performing other activities involved in switching operations
- Maintain records of car numbers, origin, destination, and cargo
- Coordinate activities of switching crew from the locomotive cab, caboose, or control tower
Requirements
- High school education or general education development (GED)
- Ability to pass training and required testing
- Valid Dual Conductor/Engineer Certification or Certification in good standing within 5 years
- 5 years conductor/engineer experience preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Valid Driver's License
- Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
