Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment to ensure compliance with Company policy and D.O.T. regulations.
  2. Transportation and Load Management: Drive tractor-trailer to/from job sites, inspect loads, and verify transportation permits to ensure accurate specifications for overweight and oversize loads/equipment.
  3. Job Site Operations: Participate in discussions related to the day's work plan, ensure safety/efficiency in carrying out daily work assignments, and actively participate in daily safety briefings.
  4. Equipment and Material Management: Move, stage, load/unload materials/equipment in preparation for work activities, and ensure equipment/materials are reloaded for safe transportation.
  5. Equipment Operations: Assist in assembly, inspection, and operation of cranes and other equipment, and operate equipment in conformance with standard operational policies/procedures while following all safety rules/regulations.
  6. Specialty Lifting and Maintenance: Operate equipment (cranes, backhoes, grapple truck, dump truck, excavators, etc.) in accomplishment of tasks associated with specialty lifting, re-railing, load transfer, track maintenance/repair, grading, or other work in preparation for railroad construction and related activities.
  7. Continuous Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitor equipment/vehicles to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness, and perform and document minor service on equipment/vehicles.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Three years of progressive experience operating heavy motorized equipment, including backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader, grapple truck, rail-bound equipment, tractor, and skid-steer loaders.
  2. CDL License: Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a good driving record.
  3. Communication and Safety: Capable of understanding and following directions, display strong adherence to safety policies and procedures, and able to read, write, and speak English.
  4. Availability: Must meet 24/7 availability to respond to emergency calls for service, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
  1. Physical Activity: Constantly on feet, walking/carrying loads on uneven surfaces, and working in all weather conditions.
  2. Lifting and Bending: Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds, and assistance required for loads in excess of 75 pounds.
