Role Overview:
The Process Engineering Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the control of processes related to injection molding. This position involves supporting the execution of the production schedule, which includes managing component changes, setups, and startups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain compliance with customer specifications and IATF-16949 standards on the production floor.
- Train and ensure that all team members adhere to safe operational practices.
- Oversee the execution of the production schedule effectively.
- Implement mold and material changes as required by the production plan.
- Conduct troubleshooting, part inspections, and other necessary functions to ensure product quality and conformity.
- Ensure proper machine setup with First Article Inspection (FAI) and initial production pieces.
- Maintain controlled documents for Process Setup (Master Process) files.
- Keep the mold shop organized and clean.
- Manage inventory of molding supplies, including mold sprays and components.
- Verify job paperwork and inspection completion at the start of production runs.
- Perform in-process inspections and complete relevant documentation.
- Prepare and monitor support equipment as needed in the production area.
- Assist with coverage during breaks as necessary.
- Measure job changeover times to minimize downtime.
- Adhere to organizational policies and applicable laws in all duties.
Additional Responsibilities:
Support other tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:
This role includes supervisory responsibilities for the Process Team, focusing on continuous training and employee development.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a technical institution, or three years of manufacturing experience.
- 2-3+ years of experience in injection molding.
Required Skills:
- Valid forklift license.
- Ability to operate overhead cranes.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on fostering a positive work environment, coaching, and team development. Must be adaptable to changing needs and able to work safely and efficiently.
Attention to Detail:
Strong focus on productivity and quality with a customer-first mindset. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Physical Requirements:
The role may require lifting and moving up to 50 lbs. Employees must frequently stand, walk, and use hands and fingers, and occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
Work Environment:
This position involves exposure to manufacturing areas and cleaning chemicals, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, masks, and gloves.
