The Paint Process Optimization Manager will lead the development and implementation of paint processes to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our paint processes. This role will partner with our Engineering department to support technology enhancements and innovation, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize paint processes to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into process parameters.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for paint process issues and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor material consumptions and process compliance.
  • Assist in the improvement of current processes and the development of new processes.
  • Work with Engineering to identify, procure, and implement new equipment and processing equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance to reduce and sustain paint defect rates.
  • Report on current KPI results and develop additional or improved KPIs to ensure continual improvement of product and processes.
  • Develop and initiate a Corrective Action plan to correct and/or prevent future occurrences of noncompliant processes or product.
  • Report daily on schedule compliance, quality, and throughput in the prep and paint department.
  • Safety, EPA, OSHA, IATF 16949, and ISO14001 compliance.
  • Coordinate the training of Paint Engineers and Paint Techs, including providing mentoring on paint process techniques and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for paint processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using 5S and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Lead and participate in process audits to ensure adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Process Engineering, preferably in paint processes.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing Paint Engineers and/or Paint Techs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, such as 5S and Kaizen.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with robotics and automation systems.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
