Job Summary

A Food Process Engineer at Shambaugh is responsible for delivering quality food process engineering design services that meet or exceed customer satisfaction for schedule and budget. Key duties include developing flow diagrams, specifications, and balance calculations, as well as conducting production line time studies and capacity usage studies.

Responsibilities
  • Develop flow diagrams and specifications in accordance with customer requirements, Shambaugh standards, and federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements.
  • Balance calculations and provide project production design criteria for customer review and confirmation.
  • Conduct production line time studies, capacity usage studies, and product mass flow calculations.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work that clearly communicates our scope of work to clients and estimating department.
  • Utilize standard practices for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, equipment schedules, standard details, piping methods, and control sequences.
  • Develop project installation requirements to convey scope of work and level of quality to clients, internal estimating staff, and field installation staff.
  • Assemble equipment specifications/schedules and RFQs for quick and accurate response to inquiries.
  • For projects proceeding to construction, distribute project documents, including approval drawings and equipment specification sheets, to the appropriate project team members in a timely manner.
  • Prepare a written functional description to describe required operation of the process design to the Shambaugh Automation Group.
  • Provide on-site engineering support for existing construction projects, commission projects, and train owner operators.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Process Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Food and Beverage industry with design and project emphasis.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Travel is expected with this position, with duration determined as required for project design and execution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office product offerings, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.
