Prep Cook

Location: FireKeepers Casino Hotel

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the culinary team, focusing on the efficient preparation of various food items prior to service. This position ensures that all pre-opening tasks are executed in alignment with the standards and specifications set by the establishment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are essential to the role, although additional tasks may be assigned by management as necessary:

  • Prepare salads, dressings, canapés, and other cold dishes with precision.
  • Assemble sandwiches both on demand and in bulk quantities.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of coffee and tea throughout the shift.
  • Collaborate effectively with Cooks, Stewards, Supervisors, Chefs, Servers, and other team members to ensure a seamless kitchen operation.
  • Adhere strictly to recipes and food control procedures.
  • Slice and portion cold meats and cheeses accurately.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all operational matters.
  • Exhibit consistent attendance as per the established attendance policy.
  • Serve as a positive representative of FireKeepers Casino Hotel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must demonstrate the necessary education, training, and experience to fulfill the essential duties of this position effectively. FireKeepers reserves the right to verify qualifications through interviews and assessments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively with groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and capable of working with fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Adept at problem-solving, data collection, and interpreting technical instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires regular communication, standing, walking, and manual dexterity. Occasional physical activities may include reaching, climbing, and kneeling. The work environment may vary in noise levels and may include exposure to smoke.

INDIAN PREFERENCE:

Preference will be given to qualified applicants in accordance with the NHBP Indian Preference in Employment Code.
