Job Description

**Job Title:** Staff Accountant

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team at Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties to support the financial operations of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Bank and Account Reconciliations: Conduct bank and account reconciliations.
  • Budget Preparation and Variance Analysis: Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Fixed Asset and Depreciation Schedules: Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Grant Financial Reporting and Compliance: Assist with grant financial reporting and compliance.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies. Provide support for audits and other financial reviews.
  • Financial Guidance and Support: Collaborate with other departments to address financial matters and provide financial guidance and support.
  • Industry Advancements and Changes: Stay up-to-date on industry advancements and changes in accounting regulations.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Accounting Principles and Financial Reporting: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • GAAP: Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate proficiency in advanced accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics, Net Suite, MIP) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
  • Nonprofit Accounting and Grants Management: Experience with nonprofit accounting and grants management is a plus.
  • Federal Grants Management: Knowledge of federal grants management preferred.
