Job Overview

The Mortgage Loan Processor plays a crucial role in the mortgage lending process by ensuring the thorough compilation, verification, and assessment of mortgage loan applications. This position collaborates closely with Mortgage Loan Officers to provide a seamless and precise experience for our members throughout the mortgage journey, focusing on documentation rather than decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage loan files received from Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) until Final Approval.
  • Collect and evaluate initial disclosures from borrowers, collaborating with MLOs to rectify discrepancies and confirm data accuracy.
  • Prepare credit and collateral documentation for submission to underwriting.
  • Request appraisals and conduct a detailed review of the appraisal upon receipt.
  • Gather verifications of employment, mortgage, rent, insurance, and other necessary items to substantiate the loan application.
  • Maintain an organized filing system and procedures to ensure that required documentation is received and processed according to established policies.
  • Coordinate with MLOs and members to address underwriting conditions and prepare files for resubmission.
  • Request tax transcripts from the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with loan officers regarding updates and any outstanding documentation.
  • Order and review pest inspections, appraisals, and flood certifications.
  • Request additional inspections as needed based on initial findings.
  • Generate redisclosures and cover letters when necessary.
  • Report invoices and payments to the Accounting department.
  • Coordinate loan closings with legal representatives and internal closing staff.
  • Assist in training new loan processors and other processing staff.
  • Support other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in mortgage lending, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Mortgage LOS systems and/or TRID compliance is preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in interactions with colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external partners, including Real Estate Agents.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and utilize a computer.
