Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Sales Consultant will play a crucial role in uncovering and securing new business prospects within academic institutions, clinical research facilities, and bio-pharmaceutical laboratories, with a strong emphasis on expertise in flow cytometry technology. The objective is to meet the financial targets for the designated region by effectively guiding scientists in making informed and advantageous decisions regarding the acquisition of flow cytometry systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in technical sales, providing both pre and post-sales assistance, marketing insights, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
  • Assess and fulfill the technical and application requirements of clients, aligning those needs with the sale of suitable equipment.
  • Organize and execute in-lab demonstrations, conduct follow-up visits post-sale to guarantee customer satisfaction, and act as a bridge between Field Service and R&D to address customer equipment performance requirements.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities as assigned, including budget monitoring, timely reporting of administrative activities, and providing internal feedback regarding competitive offerings while adhering to safety regulations.
  • Generate and pursue leads by participating in state, regional, and national conferences as directed by Sales Management, which may include setting up displays prior to meetings and dismantling them afterward.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in flow cytometry, with prior experience in Capital Equipment Sales being advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with a strong understanding of the complex sales process. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time is required.

  • The individual must be capable of traveling via commercial airlines, trains, or rental vehicles to engage with potential and existing clients.
