POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Sales Consultant will play a pivotal role in uncovering and securing new business prospects within academic institutions, clinical research facilities, and biopharmaceutical laboratories, emphasizing expertise in flow cytometry technology. The goal is to meet the financial targets for the designated region by effectively assisting scientists in making informed purchasing decisions regarding flow cytometry instruments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee technical sales processes, provide pre and post-sales assistance, gather marketing insights, and ensure customer satisfaction related to sales initiatives.
- Identify and address the technical and application requirements of clients, aligning those needs with the appropriate sales of equipment.
- Facilitate and conduct in-lab demonstrations, follow up with clients post-sale to guarantee satisfaction, and serve as a liaison between Field Service and R&D to resolve customer equipment performance issues.
- Manage assigned administrative tasks, including budget monitoring, timely reporting of activities, and providing internal feedback on competitive offerings while adhering to safety regulations.
- Generate and pursue leads by participating in state, regional, and national conferences as directed by Sales Management, which may include setting up displays before meetings and dismantling them afterward.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in flow cytometry, with prior experience in Capital Equipment Sales being advantageous.
- Self-motivated with a strong understanding of the complex sales process. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
- The individual must be capable of traveling via commercial airlines, trains, or rental cars to engage with potential and existing clients.
- The individual should be able to lift up to 25 lbs without difficulty and maintain a standing position for extended periods.
