Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in a medication role at AltaPointe Health. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the safe administration of medications.

Responsibilities
  • Complete the admission process for patients, including medical checklists, physical health assessments, and medication administration records.
  • Observe and document patient behavior, providing accurate and timely information to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Administer medications safely and effectively, adhering to the Six Rights of medication administration.
  • Provide nursing care, including personal care, medical appointments, and recreational activities.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Collect specimens from patients as ordered, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
  • Provide medication education to patients and their families, including potential side effects and uses.
  • Monitor patients for medication side effects, reporting findings to the physician.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and contribute to the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
Requirements
  • Current LPN licensure in Alabama.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound judgments in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, sitting, and walking, with occasional bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling. The ability to ambulate quickly and safely is essential, as is the ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-pressure situations.
