About the Role

Penn Medicine is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, conducting innovative research, and educating future healthcare leaders. As a Patient Services Representative, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care is delivered to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exemplify customer service by interacting with patients, staff, clinicians, and visitors in a timely and pleasant manner.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient interviews to obtain accurate information, verify eligibility, and benefits, and obtain authorizations/pre-certifications as needed.
  • Identify and collect co-pays from patients, post payments, and generate receipts.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to ensure accurate CPT and ICD codes are utilized on requested authorizations/pre-certifications.
  • Accurately complete MSP and ABN documentation as necessary.
  • Scan necessary documentation into the Patient Record in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Place orders in clinic software applications as necessary.
  • Assume the role of scheduler as needed, ensuring complete accuracy when scheduling patients' initial evaluations.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge of patient registration and/or insurance verification, including software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally within the work contact group.
  • Familiar with medical terminology and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven organization skills, and efficient work habits.
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills.
