Job Summary

UDR, Inc. is seeking an Affordable Housing Specialist to join our operations team in Southern, CA. This role supports multiple properties and offices out of Eight 80, our apartment community located in Newport Beach, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with Affordable Housing Programs, including processing new applicants, renewals, and waitlists.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state regulations for multiple assigned properties.
  • Process applications for Affordable Housing and Section 8 applicants, including credit and resident certification.
  • Approve qualified applications and maintain participant files.
  • Educate and advise residents on program issues and conduct program orientations as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on affordable housing policy changes and ensure the community follows local and state rules and regulations.
  • Work with monitoring agents and program administrators to ensure maximum allowable rents and income levels.
  • Review utility allowance schedules to confirm compliance and recognize the greatest possible net rents.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Prepare and confirm required data entry for month-end reporting.
  • Investigate and take action on fraud, unreported income, and other issues.
  • Ensure timely and correct actions.
  • Provide backup to sales as needed and assist with reports and tasks associated with community operations.
  • Assist the Business Manager team in collecting rent, utility payments, and fees to reduce delinquency and bad debt write-offs.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including accounting and financial reporting, reconciling resident accounts, and other clerical tasks as needed.
  • Assist with resident communication and other communities as necessary.
  • Create, update, and conduct periodic Affordable Housing Program training for UDR associates.
  • Complete internal training for market-rate and affordable housing operations.
Requirements
  • Experience in residential properties, property management, or related business operations.
  • Experience working with federal housing programs, financial eligibility determination, and other affordable housing programs.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Section 8 experience.
  • OneSite software experience is a plus.

Hourly Range

$25/hr. - $27/hr., depends on experience.
