About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Records Specialist A to join our team at the City of Eugene. As a key member of our Police Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and secure records, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and maintain accurate and secure records, including police reports, warrants, and other sensitive documents.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with the distribution of police reports to courts, public, governmental agencies, and other authorized individuals.
  • Perform background and other information checks, screening reports for release in accordance with Oregon Public Records law.
  • Support and respect diversity in the workplace, demonstrating regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Requirements
  • One full-time year (total of 2080 hours) of general office work experience, with preference given to background in public safety, judicial, or other governmental operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain LEDS certification within 8 weeks of hire.
  • Must pass a Police Background Investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of record-keeping processes and procedures.
  • Business English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Basic mathematics.
  • Applicable department policies and procedures, City ordinances, state, and federal laws, jail and court procedures.
