About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Life Science Research Professional to join our team at Stanford University. As a senior scientist, you will play a key role in investigating novel biological mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets to treat metabolic disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute research approaches for a major portion of research projects, including background research, experimental design, and execution.
  • Develop new protocols and test and evaluate various approaches.
  • Perform complex experiments and maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • Analyze and interpret research data resulting from original procedures and methods.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and written reports on all phases of the research project.
  • Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, including the results section.
  • Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
  • Work with the health and safety department to ensure compliance with regulations and required trainings.
  • Formally supervise and train new staff or students as needed, including hiring, performance management, and related duties.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related science field.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success through first-author publications or other quantifiable achievements.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Independently designing, executing, and interpreting experiments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in cellular and molecular biochemical techniques, including primary cell isolation from tissues, ELISAs, flow cytometry, and in vivo animal models.
Working Conditions

This position may require working in close proximity to blood-borne pathogens and may involve work in an environment where animals are used for teaching and research. The employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing, and gloves, and possibly a respirator. May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
