Position Overview:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will operate under the guidance of the department head.

The primary responsibility is to guarantee that the mechanical systems within the facility deliver precise and timely measurement data to the control systems, enabling effective responses to irregularities and the management of operational parameters in alignment with the organization's strategic goals and operational priorities, including profitability, safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.

A comprehensive understanding of Asterix Communications' Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and protocols is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the formulation of mechanical integrity and quality assurance programs, focusing on reliability, operational safety management (OSM), and planned preventive maintenance (PPM). Evaluate and contribute to mechanical engineering design documents for both capital and expense projects. Analyze feedback on project documentation related to mechanical aspects during the scoping, proposal, and detailed design stages. Assess new proposals for rotating machinery, including equipment specifications, documentation, and schematics. Review design alterations for various mechanical apparatus, such as rotating vessels, drums, boilers, and turbines, along with their support systems, as sanctioned by the change management or project management teams. Provide insights and recommendations regarding modifications to mechanical equipment. Respond to emergencies and critical situations by offering engineering expertise and support to operations concerning mechanical systems. Regularly review and analyze key performance indicators to identify and suggest enhancements. Engage in health, safety, and environmental activities, including facility walkthroughs, emergency drills, and relevant audits as necessary. Evaluate and comment on updates to applicable mechanical standards and manuals, ensuring alignment with agreed modifications. Address and propose solutions for the replacement of outdated mechanical equipment. Collaborate in defining testing procedures and objectives for major mechanical systems.

Support operations and maintenance teams during the commissioning and startup phases of new mechanical projects, expense packages, and modification initiatives related to mechanical engineering.

Oversee the performance monitoring program for rotating machinery, which includes vibration analysis, thermographic inspections, and oil sampling. Provide assistance to operations and maintenance during both planned and emergency shutdowns.

Qualifications & Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
