Position Overview:
  • Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead M/F
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Business Line Context: Egis seeks discipline specialists in Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health Engineering to enhance our MEP team within the Technical Excellence Team.
We are in search of seasoned professionals eager to utilize their expertise to foster excellence in project execution, engineering, quality, and processes.

The ideal candidate will be a pioneer in the MEP sector in the Middle East, leveraging their knowledge to elevate our Regional MEP team.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
Guide the MEP team with specialized knowledge.
Act as the primary technical authority for the delivery team.

Quality and Process Management:
Establish and enforce QA/QC processes.
Implement and supervise policies related to quality, processes, and training.
Ensure precision and technical accuracy in QA/QC documentation.
Engage actively in QA/QC processes and end-of-stage evaluations.

Team Development:
Mentor, develop, and lead engineers and design teams.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement.

Project Involvement:
Participate in all project phases from inception to detailed delivery.
Conduct regular reviews and solicit client feedback for enhancements.

Documentation and Standards:
Standardize documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
Update specifications and collaborate with site teams to incorporate lessons learned.
Maintain a comprehensive documentation library and keep the team informed on the latest regulations.

Industry Engagement:
Keep the team informed about industry advancements, technologies, and innovations.
Participate in professional societies, contribute papers, and attend conferences.

Additional Responsibilities:
Possess knowledge of buildability, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk, and claim assessment.
Exhibit critical thinking and analytical capabilities.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ensure Health & Safety practices are integrated into all work in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
Chartered member of a recognized professional body (e.g., CIBSE, MIET, ASHRAE).

Experience:
A minimum of 12 years of experience, with at least 8 years in the Middle East.

Proven experience in building services design across various sectors, including high-rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, and industrial projects.

Demonstrated success as a Discipline Lead Expert on complex projects.
Experience in:
Developing intricate solutions
Writing reports and specifications
Implementing innovative practices
Thorough understanding of the design process
Presenting to clients

Technical Skills:
Proven ability to perform both manual and computer-aided calculations, problem-solving, and technical and financial analyses.
Proficient in relevant software such as MS Office Suite and engineering-specific applications.
In-depth knowledge of BIM/digitalization techniques and standards.
Strong software skills in IES, HAP, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks.
Excellent understanding of local and international design standards, including BSEN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.

Comprehensive knowledge of local statutory regulations and submission requirements across the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and KSA.

Advanced understanding of Mechanical Engineering Principles, HVAC, CHW, and FLS design.
Commitment to sustainable design practices and technologies.
Engage in CPD events to further develop expertise.
