Job Summary

As a Respiratory Therapist at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in administering therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to patients with respiratory disorders. This position requires a strong foundation in respiratory care, including arterial blood gases, pulmonary function testing, and chest x-rays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medical gases, medication, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes
  • Provide patient education and counseling on respiratory care
  • Perform patient assessment and basic interpretation of arterial blood gases, pulmonary function testing, and chest x-rays
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License or Temporary Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One (1) of the following certifications preferred: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, RPSGT, Asthma Certified Educator, NRP Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, or BLS Instructor
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six (6) months of critical care experience
  • Effective oral and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
