Job Overview

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician will assist the Vehicle Maintenance Manager in ensuring the upkeep and repair of the fleet of vehicles and equipment, adhering to all relevant regulations and the Dodge Ridge Maintenance Program. This role demands a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot various machinery and components, and a commitment to safety in all tasks. This position is a vital contributor to the Dodge Ridge Team.

Key Responsibilities

This job description outlines the primary responsibilities and qualifications for the position. It is not intended to cover all duties that may be assigned or all qualifications that may be required now or in the future. Tasks will only be assigned that are safe and within the individual's training.

  1. Assist in and lead the maintenance and repair of the Dodge Ridge vehicle and equipment fleet.
  2. Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance.
  3. Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot to identify malfunctions. Repair electrical systems, including starting mechanisms, lighting, wiring, switches, and engine controls; conduct tune-ups and performance evaluations.
  4. Maintain accurate logs and records of daily, weekly, and monthly repairs and preventive maintenance.
  5. Utilize repair manuals and maintenance documentation effectively.
  6. Manage inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, ensuring resource conservation by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs.
  7. Meet service-level objectives and departmental standards as established by the supervisor.
  8. Utilize and care for radio equipment responsibly.
  9. Assist with additional maintenance projects as directed.
  10. Ensure cleanliness of the Fleet Maintenance Shop and facilities on a weekly basis.
Safety Responsibilities
  1. Employ appropriate safety equipment for each task.
  2. Identify, report, and rectify any safety hazards in the work environment.
  3. Operate vehicles safely across various terrains.
  4. Understand and adhere to the Dodge Ridge Safety Plan.
  5. Maintain a high level of organization, professionalism, and cleanliness in all work areas, ensuring proper care and safety procedures for tools and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated mechanical training and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong technical and mechanical understanding, with effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and write clearly and utilize good composition skills for record-keeping.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, task-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work in noisy conditions, requiring hearing protection.
  • Willingness to learn and understand equipment needs and standard operating procedures.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Good physical condition, as the role requires prolonged standing and the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs. with assistance).
  • Ability to tolerate heights.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and compliance with Motor Vehicle Record standards as per the Fleet Safety Program.
Work Environment

Work schedules may vary based on weather conditions and guest attendance. Typically, employees may work 40 to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During peak periods, a six-day work week may be required. Transportation to work must be arranged to ensure timely arrival at the designated workstation.

Working Conditions

During the ski season, employees may need to perform tasks in adverse weather conditions, including high winds, heavy snowfall, low visibility, and extreme temperatures. Work is often conducted indoors, interacting with resort guests and staff, but may also require outdoor work in cold, wet, or humid conditions. Employees may be exposed to moving vehicles and may assist with snow removal as needed.

Uniform Requirements

A professional appearance is mandatory at Dodge Ridge. Employees are required to wear their name tag and uniform during scheduled shifts. Most uniform items will be provided, but employees must supply certain items as approved by management. All hats worn during shifts must display the Dodge Ridge logo.
