About the Role

This is a hybrid position that will provide comprehensive paralegal support to our Commercial Legal team, primarily for US and global matters. The Senior Manager, US Commercial Paralegal will assist commercial lawyers as they engage with key business partners in areas such as advertising & promotion, disease awareness, data & digital initiatives, data privacy, and commercial litigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal services in support of business objectives, assist lawyers with identifying and resolving routine and moderately complex to complex legal matters, and carry out assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Manage Alnylam's commercial legal playbooks and assist attorneys with the creation of documents and templates, assist with initial fact investigation, identify and collect relevant documents and data sources, and engage with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
  • Collect information and create records of documents, including concerning pre-litigation and litigation matters (internal and external correspondence, court filings, etc.), summarize concepts, and develop content for lawyers to support legal assessments and trainings for the business.
  • Support commercial lawyers in progressing global initiatives and processes by helping ensure consistency of guidance, stakeholder momentum, and effective change management.
  • Ensure that legal resource licenses are kept up to date, keep abreast of relevant legal and regulatory developments, and disseminate such updates to the lawyers.
  • Perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts and the ability to independently identify problems, perform analysis, propose solutions to a lawyer, and draft and negotiate legal documents.
  • Represent Commercial Legal as appropriate in internal forums, communicate the advice of the Commercial Legal team to business colleagues, and manage legal risks to the corporation.
  • Manage critical Commercial Legal meetings, set agendas, take minutes, and track action items as well as summarize and disseminate minutes from certain marketed program meetings.
  • Track and organize priorities, project milestones, program materials, and legal advice by setting up and maintaining repositories, processes, and frameworks.
  • Engage with other legal colleagues as needed to support other key Commercial Legal responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant legal education (accredited paralegal certificate) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of corporate paralegal experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or related industry.
  • Resourceful self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and excellent at developing and maintaining strong rapport with a range of stakeholders.
  • Growth mindset with a positive attitude and willingness to pivot as needed to support business and legal teams.
  • Keen attention to detail, solid judgment, strong organizational skills, and outstanding time management abilities.
  • Excellent research, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
