Job Title: Director of Finance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join our team at the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of our organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with donor requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking activities.
  • Provide fiscal oversight of ICAN's grantmaking program, ensuring accurate budgeting, expenditure tracking, and reporting to donors.
  • Maintain ICAN's general ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance to ensure adequate liquidity and adherence to budgetary targets.
  • Conduct periodic financial analysis and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and mitigate financial risks.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial management within the nonprofit sector, preferably with an NGO whose funding sources include governments (U.S. and/or European) and UN agencies.
  • Accounting and/or MBA degree is required, CPA certificate is preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with grant management and reporting, including compliance with donor regulations.
  • English proficiency and good writing and verbal communication skills are required.
