About the Role:
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a leading international law firm, is seeking a skilled Paralegal to support our Regulatory practice. The successful candidate will report to the Paralegal Manager and be based in our Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on federal and state laws, regulations, and industry standards to support client matters.
- Participate in due diligence reviews, privilege checks, and other tasks related to client records and files.
- Assist in organizing client materials, attorney work product, and databases to ensure efficient project management.
- Maintain accurate records of project activity, including pleadings files and case or project records.
- Coordinate filings, mailings, and service list deliveries with courts, government agencies, and other parties.
- Under the supervision of an attorney, draft, edit, and cite-check legal documents, including contracts and agreements.
- Prepare binders of completed transactions and obtain services from outside contractors as needed.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and support departments, anticipating and assuming responsibility for special staffing needs.
- Travel as required by the Practice and/or client.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree required.
- Substantive knowledge of and familiarity with specific areas of law, as required.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information to others.
- Aptitude and willingness to work with complex procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to organize self and others.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions.
