Position Overview: Senior Auditor

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct audit engagements for nonprofit clients, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and auditing standards.
  • Formulate and implement audit strategies, including risk assessments, testing methodologies, and comprehensive reporting.
  • Assess internal controls and pinpoint opportunities for enhancement in financial and operational workflows.
  • Draft financial statements and/or perform thorough reviews of financial documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Mentor junior staff members by reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Effectively communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients, simplifying complex financial data for clarity.
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve audit-related issues, rectify discrepancies, and adopt best practices.
  • Maintain regular communication regarding audit progress, significant findings, and status updates with the audit manager or partner.
  • Stay informed on changes in accounting regulations and trends within the nonprofit sector to ensure audit practices remain relevant and effective.
  • Establish and nurture strong client relationships through professionalism and reliability.
  • Engage in firm-wide initiatives, including training and quality assurance reviews, to promote professional growth and uphold auditing standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA certification or completion of sections of the CPA exam.
  • 3 to 6 years of auditing experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of auditing principles and standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Caseware Working Papers or CCH ProSystems fx Engagement is advantageous.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving nonprofit organizations.
