Job Summary

Bering Straits Native Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Two Way Radio Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and Maintain Communications Systems
  • Repair and Troubleshoot Two-Way Radio Communication Systems
  • Configure and Design Systems to Meet Customer Needs
  • Program and Align Two-Way Radios
  • Use Communications Service Monitors to Troubleshoot and Repair Two-Way Equipment
  • Configure and Maintain Computer Networks
  • Configure and Maintain Telemetry and SCADA Systems
  • Install and Repair Radio Equipment for Public Safety and Underground Mining
  • Ensure Customers Have All Necessary Information to Operate Equipment
  • Install, Test, Repair, and Maintain Base, Repeater, Mobile, and Portable Two-Way Radios and Accessory Equipment
  • Install and Maintain Electronic Surveillance and Security Systems
  • Install and Maintain Public Address Systems, Electronic Sirens, Telephone Systems, Cellular Phones, Lighting Stations, and Other Equipment Systems
  • Modify Existing Equipment to Meet Present Needs
  • Check Frequencies and Solve Interference Problems
  • Provide Technical Expertise in Equipment and System Needs and Concerns
  • Repair and Maintain Test Equipment
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Five (5) Years of Experience
  • RF Experience
  • General Understanding and Knowledge of Two-Way Radio Communication, Design Principles of Radio Equipment, Closed Circuit Surveillance, Security Systems, Cellular Telephone Systems, and Equipment
  • Demonstrated Ability to Remove and Install Two-Way Radios and Other Equipment
  • Demonstrated Ability to Read and Use Schematic Diagrams, Interconnect Electronic Components into a Functional System, and Use Electronic Testing Equipment and Hand Tools
  • General Knowledge of Computers and Using Monitors, Meters, and Heavy-Duty Equipment
  • Ability to Use Soldering Equipment, Service Monitors, Watt Meters, Bucket Trucks, and Forklifts
  • Perform Quality Work within Deadlines with or without Direct Supervision
  • Interact Professionally with Other Employees, Customers, and Suppliers
  • Work Effectively as a Team Contributor on All Assignments
  • Work Independently while Understanding the Necessity for Communicating and Coordinating Work Efforts with Other Employees and Organizations
Preferred Qualifications
  • At Least Five (5) Years of Directly Related Two-Way Radio Experience
