Job Summary

North Slope Telecom Inc is seeking a skilled Telecom Technician to join our team. As a Telecom Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining communication systems throughout the state of Alaska and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test and repair telecommunications equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with specifications.
  • Install and maintain communication networks, including antennas, transmission lines, and surge arrestors.
  • Run power, ground, and coaxial cables as required.
  • Conduct self-safety assessments and ensure a safe working environment for others.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in electronics preferred.
  • Experience in telecommunications and combination of skills a plus.
  • Active valid driver's license required.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol screening and ongoing program participation.
  • Pass fitness testing and background screening.
  • Ability to travel within the state of Alaska approximately 75% of the year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in specific telecommunication systems such as VOIP, telephony, and unified communications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Telephony & Electronics Theory.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cable installation, termination, and testing.
  • Knowledge and ability of ISP & OSP cable installation (fiber, copper and coax).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Radio Frequency (two-way).
  • Knowledge and ability of Microwave Communication.
  • Knowledge and ability of Fiber Optics.
  • Knowledge and ability of Satellite Communication.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Telecommunication Power Systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Basic Construction & Fabrication.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Culture of Safety & PPE.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Basic Computer skills.
