Key Responsibilities:

  • This role reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for financial analysis related to financial reporting.
  • Facilitates the creation of analyses, surveys, and reports for Emory Healthcare. Evaluates historical accounting data and other relevant information to provide informed recommendations.
  • Collaborates with management on variance analysis and proposes solutions for identified issues.
  • Assists with year-end audits by providing detailed schedules and analyses to support financial statements.
  • Reviews existing control procedures and aids in developing new protocols to enhance internal controls.
  • Engages with both external and internal auditors to clarify accounting schedules and resolve discrepancies.
  • Develops responses to address the implications of changes in accounting standards and coordinates the implementation of accounting procedures.
  • Recommends improvements to enhance the efficiency of reporting practices.
  • May assist in preparing, developing, and monitoring departmental budgets while ensuring compliance with fiscal constraints.
  • May provide insights and analyses for long-term financial and cash flow forecasting, project spending trends, and evaluate optimal fund utilization.
  • May assist in reviewing financial aspects of grant agreements and sponsored research proposals to ensure compliance.
  • Conducts surveys, prepares, and analyzes various internal and external financial reports and governmental forms for accuracy.
  • Maintains expertise on state, federal, and organizational regulations and guidelines, making recommendations on policy issues to ensure compliance.
  • Implements procedures consistent with established policies and reviews guidelines to ensure adherence.
  • Analyzes current policies and procedures to assess their effectiveness.
  • Manages special projects and coordinates the preparation of financial surveys and questionnaires.
  • Works with management to develop a professional development plan.
  • Participates in educational in-services as appropriate and engages in professional activities to stay updated on current trends and practices.
  • Prepares and analyzes statistical reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Documents variances in a clear narrative format that accurately describes the situation.
  • Provides guidance and direction to professional staff and collaborates with department heads to establish effective procedures.
  • Strives to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Performs related responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with two years of directly related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Five years of experience in financial analysis, auditing, systems, and budgeting.
