Key Responsibilities:

  • This role reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for financial analysis related to financial reporting.
  • Facilitates the creation of analyses, surveys, and reports for Emory Healthcare. Evaluates historical accounting data and other relevant information to provide informed recommendations and insights, ensuring that assigned objectives and targets are met.
  • Collaborates with management on variance analysis and offers solutions for addressing discrepancies.
  • Assists in year-end audits by providing detailed schedules and analyses to support financial statements.
  • Reviews existing control procedures and aids in the development of new processes to enhance internal control measures.
  • Works alongside external and internal auditors to interpret accounting schedules and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Develops responses to address the implications of changes in accounting standards and coordinates the implementation of accounting procedures.
  • Recommends improvements to enhance the efficiency of reporting practices.
  • May assist in preparing, developing, and monitoring departmental budgets while ensuring compliance with fiscal constraints.
  • May provide information and analysis for long-term financial and cash flow forecasting, project data trends in expenditures, and offer insights on optimal fund utilization and funding sources.
  • May assist with the financial review and analysis of grant agreements and sponsored research proposals to ensure compliance.
  • Surveys, prepares, and evaluates various internal and external financial reports and governmental forms for accuracy.
  • Maintains expertise on state, federal, and organizational regulations and guidelines, making recommendations on policy issues to ensure compliance.
  • Implements procedures consistent with established policies and reviews guidelines to ensure adherence.
  • Analyzes current policies and procedures for effectiveness.
  • Manages special projects and coordinates the preparation of financial surveys and questionnaires.
  • Works with management to devise a plan for professional development.
  • Participates in educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Engages in professional activities and organizations to stay informed of current trends and practices.
  • Prepares and analyzes statistical reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Documents variances in a clear narrative format that accurately describes the situation.
  • Provides guidance and direction to professional staff.
  • Consults with department heads, offering guidance and recommendations to assist in designing and establishing procedures.
  • Strives to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with two years of directly related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Five years of experience in financial analysis, auditing, systems, and budgeting.
