Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the creation of SEC documentation (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K's, etc.), internal financial reporting, and analysis of financial outcomes. Conduct technical research to guarantee that financial statements and disclosures comply with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting standards. Manage requests from internal and external auditors.

Core Duties:

  • Compile monthly reporting packages that encompass a complete set of financial statements along with analytical reviews explaining significant variances in the current financial status and operational results compared to previous periods.
  • Draft external financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, statements of shareholders' equity, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare footnote disclosures for interim and annual financial statements and complete the associated GAAP checklist.
  • Maintain reports on share-based compensation activities, including monthly expense calculations, and prepare related disclosures for interim and annual financial statements as well as annual proxy disclosures.
  • Execute quarterly earnings per share calculations and document the results.
  • Support annual goodwill impairment testing procedures and document the findings.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly MD&A and related non-GAAP disclosures, including same store/non-same store and constant currency operational results; Core EBITDA and Funds from Operations.
  • Collaborate with the investor relations team to finalize earnings releases and earnings call scripts by validating and reconciling all financial data and addressing inquiries from investors.
  • Enhance the utilization of Workiva for Financial Reporting, including integration with Oracle and developing monthly reporting packages and analytics within Workiva.
  • Assist with additional SEC filings as required, including Annual Proxy, 8-K's, and registration statements.
  • Identify efficiencies and potential enhancements within various reporting processes.
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with necessary SOX controls documentation for assigned areas.
  • Conduct technical accounting and SEC reporting research and document conclusions in executive memos.
  • Assist internal and external auditors with their requests.
  • Support the IT department in implementing new accounting and reporting solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Qualifications and Experience You Should Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with 3-4 years of financial reporting experience; CPA required; Big 4 audit experience with public company clients preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
  • Experience with SOX compliance is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and accounting software systems, as well as forecasting and budgeting tools.
  • Oracle experience is preferred; familiarity with other systems such as SAP, Great Plains, or any other large ERP system is a plus.
  • Experience using and implementing Workiva is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting research tools such as CCH or Checkpoint Learning is required.
  • Experience in REIT is advantageous.
