We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatics Lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our members and program participants in and around our pools.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas.
- Prevent accidents by maintaining constant observation of the pool area, enforcing health and safety rules, and maintaining emergency readiness.
- Rescue distressed persons and examine injured persons, administering first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available, reporting any problems promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service to members, program participants, and guests at all times.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Perform pool-side chemical testing and set up and store equipment for recreational swims.
- Must be at least 16 years old (18 years old for full-time positions).
- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g. Red Cross).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Current Administering Emergency Oxygen Certification.
- Strong swimming abilities.
- Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
- Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
