Responsibilities
  • Actively monitor the activities of pool users and patrons, educating them on safety rules and regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies by providing appropriate care within your level of training as a certified lifeguard.
  • Report all incidents of damages or injuries using the appropriate reporting systems accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related facilities, and collect lost and found items.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
  • Teach swimming techniques and water safety.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of lifeguarding techniques and principles, including first aid and CPR/AED.
  • Knowledge of swimming lesson techniques and methods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to adhere to safety standards.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
  • American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification.
  • Northwest Lifeguard Preparation Course certification.
Working Conditions
  • Work Location: King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Dr., Federal Way, WA 98023.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible schedule, including weekends and late evenings.
  • Union Representation: Not represented by a union.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50lbs, maintain 20/40 vision, and perform duties involving physical labor.
