Job Overview

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating a robust pipeline of opportunities and securing new business within targeted accounts to significantly enhance the company's sales performance.

Optimim specializes in manufacturing metal injection molded components, leveraging extensive engineering expertise alongside proprietary manufacturing technologies. Our focus is on delivering cost-effective solutions to our North American clientele by identifying opportunities for product redesign or consolidation through metal injection molding. We are a subsidiary of Form Technologies, a leading global manufacturing entity with revenues exceeding $1 billion.

The ideal candidate is a proactive professional adept at establishing and nurturing relationships within new accounts or divisions. You will challenge conventional approaches at these organizations by leveraging industry knowledge and insights, demonstrating the value of having Optimim experts address their intricate, precision-engineered part solution challenges. This role is designed for a national sales engineer based in the United States, ideally residing in the Portland metropolitan area, working from a home office while also engaging with the plant and traveling up to 60% of the time.

This position offers a competitive base salary along with performance-based incentives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned prospect accounts to achieve substantial sales growth through securing new opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships within new accounts or divisions, quickly identifying key stakeholders for engagement.
  • Develop strong connections with these stakeholders, serving as a trusted resource for solving complex, precision-engineered part solutions.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques to educate customers about their industry, providing unique insights that align with Optimim's capabilities.
  • Highlight the value of Optimim's solutions and create urgency for closing deals by emphasizing the risks of not partnering with us.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering and Plant Engineering teams to expedite new business wins and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Formulate and implement effective pursuit plans to accelerate relationship development, improve the quality of the sales pipeline, and enhance the customer buying experience.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand Optimim's influence within accounts and across all divisions of Form Technologies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales or successful account prospecting; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of direct sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in the MIM industry or familiarity with tooling, design, and metals is advantageous; an engineering background is preferred.
  • Demonstrated Business Acumen - ability to communicate effectively in terms of the customer's business, including profit, expenses, cash flow, productivity, labor, and risk, while aligning solutions that deliver value.
  • Strategic Thinker - capable of hypothesizing customer challenges and systematically developing plans to address them, collaborating with internal teams to resolve complex deal issues.
  • Hunter Mentality - proven track record of identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent Communicator - adept at tailoring communications to meet customer needs, with strong presentation skills and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Influencer - skilled at utilizing both rational and emotional drivers to guide customer stakeholders toward choosing Optimim.
  • Networking Skills - proficient in identifying key stakeholders and building connections to drive consensus for successful deals.
  • Willingness to Travel - open to traveling up to 70% to engage with customer stakeholders.
