Optimim specializes in manufacturing metal injection molded components, leveraging extensive engineering expertise alongside specialized manufacturing technologies. Our mission is to deliver cost-effective solutions to our North American clientele by identifying opportunities for product redesign and consolidation through advanced metal injection molding techniques. We are a proud subsidiary of Form Technologies, a global leader in manufacturing with revenues exceeding $1 billion.

The ideal candidate is a proactive professional adept at forging connections and nurturing relationships within new accounts or divisions. You will challenge conventional approaches by utilizing your industry knowledge and insights, demonstrating the value of engaging with Optimim to address complex, precision-engineered component challenges. This role requires a national sales engineer based in the Portland metropolitan area, with the flexibility to work from a home office, spend time at the manufacturing facility, and travel up to 60% of the time.

This position offers a competitive base salary along with performance-based incentives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned prospect accounts and achieve substantial sales growth through the acquisition of new opportunities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships within new accounts or divisions, quickly identifying key stakeholders for engagement and sales.
  • Develop strong connections with these stakeholders, becoming their primary resource for resolving complex, precision-engineered component needs.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques to educate customers about their industry, providing unique insights that align with Optimim's capabilities.
  • Articulate the value of Optimim's solutions, creating urgency for deal closure by emphasizing the potential losses of not partnering with us.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering and Plant Engineering teams to expedite new business acquisitions and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Formulate and implement effective pursuit strategies to accelerate relationship development, improve the quality of the sales pipeline, and enhance the customer buying experience.
  • Identify new avenues to expand Optimim's influence within accounts and across all divisions of Form Technologies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales or successful account prospecting; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in the MIM industry or a solid understanding of tooling, design, and metals is advantageous; an engineering background is preferred.
  • Business Acumen - must effectively communicate in terms of the customer's business, including profit, expenses, cash flow, productivity, labor, and risk, aligning solutions that deliver value.
  • Strategic Thinking - capable of hypothesizing customer challenges and systematically developing plans to address them, collaborating with internal teams to resolve complex deal issues.
  • Proactive Approach - demonstrated ability to seek out, develop, and secure new business opportunities.
  • Effective Communication - adept at tailoring communications to meet customer needs; highly skilled in both formal and informal presentations; excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Influencing Skills - utilizes both rational and emotional drivers to guide customer stakeholders towards choosing Optimim.
  • Networking Skills - quickly identifies key stakeholders and builds connections to drive consensus for successful deals; collaborates effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to Travel - open to traveling up to 70% to engage with customer stakeholders.
