Public Safety Telecommunicator

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Telecommunicator to join our team at the Pueblo of Sandia. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for dispatching emergency units in response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, prioritizing response and dispatching appropriate agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Dispatch emergency units in response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Prioritize response and dispatch appropriate agencies
- Communicate with police officers, EMS personnel, Fire personnel, and outside agencies via radio
- Provide general information as requested by the public
- Maintain accurate records of the location and status of all field units
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Two (2) years related experience in data entry, computer applications, telephone communications or emergency communications/radio dispatching
- NMLEA Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification
- New Mexico Department of Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification
- EMD Certification (Emergency Medical Dispatch) is preferred
Work is generally performed in indoor settings in emergency and extremely stressful situations. Noise level is usually moderate. Frequent interaction with the public. Shift work, weekend and holiday work required.
