Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Senior Software Solutions Architect is responsible for guiding the architecture and development of advanced software solutions tailored to intricate application challenges, including API architecture, data services, and cloud infrastructure. This role demands a high level of expertise in making strategic design decisions and establishing technical standards, encompassing software coding practices, tools, and platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and evolve essential architectural products to create a comprehensive framework for organizational IT transformation, focusing on business operations, data management, application oversight, and supporting technologies.
  • Collaborate with product leaders, developers, and subject matter experts to outline IT solution roadmaps, define technical requirements, and assess new technologies while developing integration models.
  • Craft current and future state architectures that elevate user experience and operational excellence, providing strategic recommendations on technology direction and standards.
  • Analyze and define IT solution architecture artifacts, integrating modern digital technologies to optimize internal processes and address infrastructure challenges.
  • Create design documentation that illustrates the architecture, characteristics, behavior, and workflows of the solutions for project stakeholders.
  • Explore and incorporate innovative solutions utilizing customer software, commercial products, and open-source technologies, while developing technology roadmaps for various service models.
  • Ensure a modular architecture through effective API management and microservices, establishing guidelines for both internal and external use.
  • Offer architectural guidance to facilitate Agile/DevSecOps development practices, modern architectures, and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Integrated Program Offices (IPOs) to generate and integrate essential architecture products, including Business, Data, Application, and Technical Architectures.
  • Develop comprehensive Sequencing Plans and Technical Roadmaps that outline the transition from current operational environments to targeted future states.
  • Conduct thorough gap analyses to identify discrepancies between baseline and target architectures, defining user requirements and assessing migration risks.
  • Utilize data science methodologies to enhance the reporting of Enterprise Requirements, streamlining manual processes through automation.
  • Facilitate the delivery of data visualization solutions, translating technical requirements into accessible language for stakeholders.
  • Support the integration of IT architecture products across the organization, developing high-level business perspectives that encompass the entire agency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience as a Software Architect.
  • Demonstrated expertise across Business, Data, Application, and Technology architecture domains.
  • Proven experience in defining and developing architectures, including technology roadmaps and integration models.
  • Strong knowledge of modern architecture principles, including service-oriented and microservices architectures.
  • Expertise in various cloud service models, including SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture modeling tools.
  • Background in developing and maintaining cloud-based solutions and services.
  • Familiarity with both DoDAF and commercial architecture frameworks.
  • Understanding of organizational missions and systems.
  • Experience documenting architecture best practices and guidelines.
